PANORAMIC SUGAR EGGS - KEEPING TRADITIONS ALIVE

At SugarEggs.com, we specialize in carefully crafting Panoramic Sugar Eggs by hand, a nostalgic tradition dating back to Victorian times. We create personalized, sparkling Sugared Eggs that children and adults alike will love to discover in their Easter baskets and feel the magic of peeking inside. We are committed to keeping this cherished tradition alive by crafting each Panoramic Sugar Egg to order for your family.
Hi, I'm Ashley, founder of SugarEggs.com. Panoramic Sugared Egg making is a tradition that has been continued in our family for years! As a young girl, my mother received a Panorama Egg kit as a gift, and made them every year since. She is now a great-grandmother, and still continues the tradition. When I was a child, my favorite part of Easter was finding a beautiful egg tucked in my basket. Personalized just for me, it held a magical inner scene and was so sweet! As we grew, my mother shared the joy of creating them with us. Easter wasn't complete without gathering around a batch of freshly baked sugar egg shells and trying to devise the most fun and intricate scenes inside, icing our names and decorations on the outside. Most of my siblings never wanted to eat the ones we worked hard on, and displayed them for many years-but some of my brothers would glob on as much icing as possible to devour. I've had my hand in the craft for as long as I can remember, and am now enjoying sharing it with my children.
In the early 2000's, many friends and acquaintances requested Panoramic Sugar Eggs, which led to me offering them online to keep the tradition alive. The response to our craft has been overwhelming. Many people remember these treasures from their childhood, and quality ones are a challenge to find, despite them being featured in many classic Easter books! It is sad to me that such a unique tradition is being exchanged for mass-produced candies and plastic throwaway toys, so we are doing what we can to share the joy with others. It's been especially rewarding to recreate heirloom ones that had broken, or for families to begin the tradition anew. Our Panoramic SugarEggs have been featured in candy-shops, art work, in Holiday Jubilee by Charles Phoenix, and shipped across the world.
Each Sugar Egg is a work of art. I take the utmost care and consideration with each individual egg so that it is shaped and decorated to perfection. My goal is to share the fascination and magic I felt as a child peeking into the little window in the egg with others-extra care is spent making sure the inner scene is just right, with characters seeming to interact with each other and a three-dimensional scene. When ordering, you may choose color, style, and composition of your egg, or you can opt to have one designed for you with minimal input.
Our recipe for the sugar shell has been in our family for many years, it is hard and has the consistency (and taste) of a sugar cube. The decorations are created with royal icing, which hardens to a candy texture, and we also use colored shredded coconut as grass and inclusions like jelly bean "eggs" and candy-coated eggs. These eggs are not different ingredient-wise than the ones made in Victorian times! Every part of them (except jelly bean or candy inclusions) is carefully made on-site by hand. They are intended to be decorative keepsakes to treasure.
If you have any questions, please send a note. We do get flooded with many inquiries each spring and the creation process itself is quite time consuming, so sometimes there will be delays as we are a small family business.
Thanks for visiting, and have a wonderful spring!
